Department of Paediaterics

    The department of pediatrics, Kalpana Chawla Government Medical College and Hospital, Karnal provides health care services to neonates, children and adolescents for all pediatric medical conditions. The department consists of a team of qualified and experienced pediatricians and medical officers namely: Dr. Poonam Mehta (Assistant Professor), Dr. Munish Pruthi (Senior Medical Officer), Dr. Nidhi Sharma (Medical Officer), Dr. K.K. Chawla (Medical Officer SNCU), Dr. Mohit Gupta (Senior Resident), Dr. Narender (Medical Officer SNCU), Dr. Sapna (Junior Resident-Pediatrics) with a dedicated, well qualified nursing and paramedical staff for compassionate and loving care of the little ones.

  • Services Provided :

    1. Outpatient Department(OPD)
    • Pediatric department runs OPD services for all neonates, children and adolescents on all working days from 9am to 3pm (winters) and 8am to 2pm (summers).
    • Immunization Clinic - Pediatric department is running a successful immunization programme against all vaccine preventable diseases (tuberculosis, polio, hepatitis B, diphtheria, pertussis, tetanus, measles, hemophilus influenza B) as advised under universal immunization programme of government of India.

    2. Inpatient Services:
    • Pediatric ward - The department runs a 20 bedded pediatric ward for management of all pediatric medical diseases.
    • SNCU (Specialized Newborn Care Unit) - The department is running a 12 bedded SNCU for all inborn and out born neonates. It provides neonatal resuscitation services to attached obstetric department (labor room). Our SNCU has following facilities:
      • Open care system (warmers) for care of term and preterm babies.
      • Phototherapy and exchange transfusion.
      • Multipara cardiac monitors, pulse oximeters, syringe pumps, oxygen flowmeters, nebulization, Glucometer, inhouse central oxygen, surfactant.
      • Transcutaneous bilirubinometer.
      • Facility for Kangaroo Mother Care and breastfeeding counseling.

    3. Emergency Services:

    The department provides 24 hour emergency services, 365 days a year.

    4. Other Allied Services:

    We also provide services like physiotherapy, speech therapy and dietary counseling (by a dietician) in alliance with other departments of our institute.
